WIA's Programs
In 1993, 16 Tanzanian women started WIA to address the HIV/AIDS pandemic and support the women and children who were the most impacted by the disease in our community. Since its creation, WIA has helped more than 4,800 individuals and families living with HIV/AIDS. WIA provides home-based care (HBC) services for HIV/AIDS patients, support for AIDS orphans and most vulnerable children which include sponsoring their education, providing trained foster parents and holding after school tutoring and counseling sessions, women empowerment programs, income generating activities and the administration of micro loans with an emphasis on grass root community participation.
